THREE's not really a crowd, now is it?

If you're regularly on the hunt throughout Stuttgart for a good novel or two, you've probably spent some time in the English section of Wittwer (ground floor, at the back).View map
Newly on the scene is the Hugendubel, a mammoth and grandiose* shopping extravaganza for bookworms everywhere, located at the bottom end of the Königstraße. With it's inviting cafe and comfy sofas, you'll be ever so slightly reminded of browsing days in Waterstones (UK) or Barnes and Noble (US).
Both these have a good selection of bestsellers along with more popular business titles, pop science, culture, autobiographies and economic tomes. However these books often carry a premium price.
The answer to finding cheap books in English lies in Oxfam, the bookstore.View map
They don't have a huge selection however I have managed to pick up a couple of great business texts (Good to Great and Communication Catalyst) plus the most recent John Grisham - for less than a fiver each.
There's even a box in the corner with some cast-offs, at €.50 and €1.
Of course, finding books for /about teaching English as a foreign language is not quite as simple. All three of the above mainly cater to the general German-reading-English public, dictionaries and course books abound but little else.
There are TWO more...
Klett (map) and Cornelsen (map) are well worth visiting, they carry their own titles as well as those from the international ELT giants they have an association with.
Of course, there's always good ole Amazon and I've selected some titles on teaching methodology for you here.
Do you know of any other bookshops carrying English texts?
If so, don't hesitate to add the information in the comments below and if you can tell us where they're located, that'd be super!
Happy reading, Karenne
*by Stuttgart standards ;-)
